little things...

The prettiest magazine I ever did see arrived this week ~ it came all the way from China and it's called "little thing"...

It is a gorgeous publication from cover to cover with beautiful images and great design, and the best part is (holy cow!) I got to be in it.  A while back, I was thrilled to be asked if they could feature me in it alongside 9 other crafty gals for a sewing Q&A.  I only wish I could read the article and the rest of the mag... but it's all in Chinese, of course!

And I can't at all remember the questions or my answers... but hey, it looks great, doesn't it?  Seeing this was just one of the little things that brightened my week.  Another one?  (Surprise surprise!) I have something to show you...

I finished up a little doll quilt with the half inch hexies I've been sewing up these past few weeks... yay!  Altogether, I pieced 12 tiny flowers and thought about connecting them together with more half inch hexies but I took the easy route instead.  I appliqued them to a single piece of pink polka dot fabric ~ saving myself oodles of time ~ and I love how it looks.

Yep, I still love hand sewing.

It's been a solid week of little moments, little joys, and little things... I wish you all a great weekend!

nothing is sweeter...

... than this tiny little baby who's got us all madly in love.  Honestly, there's nothing I'd rather do than hold Mia all day.  And I never thought I'd put off blogging this long, but I'm only just starting to feel like me again.  I guess things are a little different when you're a (cough, gasp, sigh...) "older" mom.

But Mia is a dream.  She eats, sleeps, and snuggles.  Our days are mostly a mix of lounging at home, trips to Target and the park, with a bit of beach and library time here and there.  Sewing 1/2" hexagon flowers has been fun the last few days.  These are my first and they're so small ~ a finished flower is not much bigger than the single 1 1/4" hexagons I'm so used to sewing with.  I think I'll be putting these tiny flowers in a doll quilt.

Ah, girls, I'm getting the itch... and soon I think I'll be back in my sewing corner!  (Now that I've put a baby swing next to my sewing machine ;)
