Just before I left California, Minki Kim invited me to her home for brunch along with her bestie and partner in crime Kristin Esser. I didn't have a lot of time to spend with them and I'd definitely wished I had more because first of all, when you arrive at Minki's home there is so much to see (all the beautiful makes), then she served a perfectly delicious and photo-worthy brunch (with desserts), and then we all got to talking shop (favorite tools and funny behind-the-scene stories ;) You guys. Everything about Minki ~ her work, her home, her style and personality ~ are 100% charming. With a dash of mischief (yes, I saw it, Minki!!!) And her partner in crime, Kristin Esser is truly a delight ~ warm and absolutely lovely. They make a great team ~ and together they've written the latest must-have book from C&T Publishing : Sew Illustrated.
This beautiful book is such a great collaboration for these two and I'm very happy to be a part of the blog tour. It just kicked off yesterday!

I think once you see all the adorable makes one can stitch up using this book, you'll be hooked. And if you're intimidated to try Minki's charming "sewing illustration" style, be assured these girls have spent a good portion at the beginning of the book going over exactly how to achieve Minki's signature style ~ preparing the fabric, methods for transferring designs, thread choices, design tips and more. I read it through carefully before diving in this time. And do you know what? I love what I was able to make with this book!
These are Minki's signature pin cushions and the adorable "notions basket". Didn't they come out so cute?? And these items are the first I've sewn in my new home here in Virginia. I was feeling a little more than rusty, but after these makes... seriously, I remember now why I love sewing. These are my kind of projects!
Side note: If you're ever lucky enough to receive one of Minki's tiny pin cushions there is one thing you'll realize: when she says, "fill until quite firm," she really means it! (Also, you might notice that she does an amazing ladder stitch.) So, I tried very carefully to make mine like Minki's and they're not quite there, but these came out pretty good. ;)
Thank you Minki and Kristin for this wonderful book, my friends! And thank you for visiting my stop on the blog tour :)
