Sometimes I need a good kick in the pants (or let's be honest: several)... just to get the ball rolling. About a year ago, some people started encouraging me to start a blog and then I actually got to meet one of them, Heather Hales, in person. We had a nice long brunch and we talked about family and sewing, and yes, about blogging. She is savvy and sweet and knows so much about the things I don't. Fast forward to this past Monday night~ and we got a chance to meet up again. This time for a nice long dinner, and I walked away feeling like, okay, you've taken one baby step and started the blog, now it's time to take nanaCompany to the next level... to make patterns and draw things and design fabric and try to be more than just a mom with a hobby. It makes me nervous just to say that out loud. Nervous but excited. So watch out, ladies, I have been too afraid in the past, but now it's time to get this party started!
Speaking of party, here's a bit of inspiration I've found on pinterest for Olivia's 3rd birthday party...
I'm loving the whole spring-y color scheme of pink, orange, yellow and mint, and I found so many beautiful ideas but let's face it~ Olivia would be happy no matter what kind of party we threw her. She has been waiting a long time for this birthday and one of her first full length sentences was, "my birthday is in April." I just hope to give her party a little bit of magic.
In the sewing room, I've been working on a few things. One project is for nanaCompany (a pattern, too!) and I quickly sewed up this little tote for Livs...
She needed a tote for Sundays at church... a place to put her crayons and coloring books. Now I have to make one for Nicholas but I don't have much in the way of boy fabric. Darn it. I guess I'll have to do some fabric shopping!
I feel like I really chose the right fabric for the lining on this one...
I like it lots. And so does Olivia. So, now I'm off to make dinner with this...
Vegetables from the farmer's market today. That was after I went to the gym (my first time back in months, woot woot!) Today was a good day. And tonight? If all goes well, I'll be putting in some more work on my first nanaCompany pattern... (smiles) xo amy
