Olivia, being the youngest in our family, is the one we all fuss and fawn over. She is definitely a daddy's girl (and I resent that completely) but she's still young and will soon see clearly. She will realize some day that Daddy has no decorating sense at all, no party planning skills, and, later on in life Olivia will discover he does not enjoy going to the mall at all! For now, the fact that he adores her is enough, I see... But I will carry on, decorating her world, planning her 3rd birthday party, and swooning over all the pretty things I'd like to give her (if only I had a magic wand.) For instance, with the flick of the wrist, this room would be hers...

The other side would look like this...

And her closet might look like this... (check out this post about kids' closets over at Project Nursery.)
As for what I can really do... this past weekend I did in fact do a lot of snuggling with the kids, some laundry, a little sewing, and none of the shopping I had planned, but I did have that date with my husband. We saw a movie, The Adjustment Bureau ~ which, I thought was interesting and sweet. A love story, really. Then we went to this place called Tin Roof for wine and dessert, since we weren't all that hungry. We critiqued the movie, ate slowly, and talked about the kids (like we always do when we're finally away from them).
Sunday, at last, I finished this pillow...
It took me a while. I have to admit that I get "stuck" on projects fairly often. The inspiration stops, the next choice of fabric stumps me, the colors aren't right, the layout isn't balanced, or I simply don't like what I've done so far... and I'll end up putting the project away for a bit. Please tell me this happens to you. (Please don't tell me that it never happens to you and really, you think I ought to just lighten up.) Well, on this one, I didn't know which fabric to use as the binding. I'm so glad I finally finished.
I have to get started on planning a party that's in less than three weeks. I realize I should start on these things a lot earlier, but that just wouldn't be me. Now where is that magic wand? xo amy
