i'm so happy!

oh... so very happy on this lovely cloudy Saturday to be finished at last with my New Year's resolution embroidery.

And now I super-pinky promise to hurry up and finish the pattern for you...

...and also take better pics.  Oh, but I'm happy. 

I'm excited to start something new.  These books are on my table right now...

and I'll be starting with this one first...

making time for stitches

I miss sewing, I do.  I've got the itch to make some patchwork but for now it's all about this...

and this...

and of course, my three other hooligans.  Whole days have gone by where I haven't made a single stitch because I have a hard time starting when I know I've only got a few minutes.  Our days have been full, but time is ticking and I am excited to get the pattern out to you.  I will have it in my etsy shop this weekend, I hope. 

Just so you know, the lettering was completely drawn by hand.  It looks like a font, but I labored with my pencil and eraser getting it exactly the way I wanted it ~ hours of work are packed into those letters.  The flowers, though, are changing a bit as I stitch.  It's funny to me that I can't follow even my own pattern exactly.  I hope you'll enjoy stitching the pattern to your own liking, too.

just for a moment...

... I'd like to go back a bit.  I never did show you the things I sewed for Tasha Horsley's booth at the most recent Quilt Market, using her fabric line with Riley Blake, "The Simple Life."  The prints in this line are so sweet and work so well together it was a pleasure to sew them into pretty little things.

First there was a 1/2" hexie pin cushion, a boxy basket, and a "henhouse" potholder.  There was also a hexagon pocket pillow, but it is travelling at the moment.

It's not everything, but that's 2012 in a nutshell.  Of course, my best project of the year wasn't sewn at all...

We couldn't possibly be more madly in love with this little one.  By the way, in case you just can't get enough of us, I have seriously taken on this year's 365 project (a photo a day) and I've been posting lots more photographs over at my flickr account.  If you care to see throughout the year, check the photos link above.

happy happy new year!

A new year.  Another beginning.  Another chance to do everything better than... well, before.  You might remember that last year I made some pretty lofty resolutions ~ this year I'm making the same ones except I'm going to embroider and frame them so I can be reminded every day.
