hello! It's my turn!
Everything Lori Holt creates is simply charming. Period. You know ~ the quilts, the fabric, the cottage, the rulers, the videos, the books ~ all as if they've been touched by a wave of a magic wand. Of course her newest book, Great Granny Squared, is no exception. My name is Amy, and welcome to my little stop on the Great Granny Sew Along! I've got some Mama blocks to show you and a copy of Lori's book to give away to one lucky you!
The Great Granny Sew Along quilt (called "Mama's Crochet Quilt") is simple and darling, which is, I think, how all quilts should be. I cut into some very special (to me) Mrs. March 30's prints for this project and I love how the Mama blocks went together so effortlessly. There's no worrying about having enough seam allowance once the block is finished ~ Lori designed the Mama block with 1/2" of fabric around "mama." Love that. Makes me feel so much easier, and that's how I picture Lori working in her studio ~ kinda effortless and easy with a bluebird singing on her shoulder. Right? Can't you just see that?
Today, two other talented ladies are showing off their Mama Blocks ~ check 'em out here and here. Then go grab your book and download the Mama Block PDF companion here to start sewing. Have you been adding pics of your blocks to the Great Granny Squared Flickr page? Weekly prizes are being given away for those pics and coming up next... three winners will each receive one of these. All the prizes are hand-picked by Miss Lori herself.
Want to enter for a chance to win a free copy of Great Granny Squared? Leave a comment on this post telling me your fave sewing tool (lately mine is a fabric glue stick) and I'll pick one random winner after midnight Sunday, May 11th. This giveaway is open to all. Good luck to you! xo amy
